2007 Grammy’s Were Designed For Led Zeppelin
December 8, 2008 by Scott
Todd Martens of the L.A. Times reported that even though the 2007 (50th Anniversary) Grammy’s opened with Alicia Keys performing Frank Senatra, it has been said that the Grammy’s were designed around hopes that the recently reunited Led Zeppelin (when they played a few weeks before, for the one off show) would open the historic show.
Visitors to the Grammy Museum, which opened this weekend in downtown Los Angeles, will get a glimpse of what could have been. In a short film that provides a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsals between Beyonce and Tina Turner, who teamed up for a rendition of “Proud Mary,” it’s revealed that Grammy had designs on Led Zeppelin.
That would have made a great opening act and a perfect 50th Anniversary for the Grammys. Sadly, it didn’t happen and the chances that a Zeppelin reunion will not happen…anytime soon. Of course anything is possible, but Robert Plant has expressed his lack of desire to do a full scale reunion tour. He’s working with Allison Krauss and says that he has no plans as of yet to tour with his former band.
