Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
Cause London is drowning and I, live by the river”

June 22, 2008 by Scott

“Scars are souvenirs you never lose
The past is never far
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there?
Did you get to be a star?
And don’t it make you sad to know that life
Is more than who we are”

Michigan’s Mountain Rock Music Festival Canceled

June 21, 2008 by Scott

According to Encore.celebrityaccess.com not just the Mountain Rock Music Festival, but the Mountain Country Music Festival has been canceled as well.

Phil Coultrip, organizer for the Mountain Country Music Festival and the Mountain Rock Festival told the Saginaw News unidentified investors had withdrawn their support, leaving him with significant debt and no 2008 season.

“It was a very difficult decision to make to postpone the shows, but the reality is our investors pulled out, and we didn’t have any other funds.” Coultrip told the Saginaw News. “All the prospects for the future depend on finding new funds, private or institutional. I’m feverishly trying to find investors to pick up the ball. It is very disheartening.”

Livenation.com A Royal Pain In The A$$

June 21, 2008 by Scott

Have you ever tried finding tickets on Livenation.com? Have you ever tried redeeming a code for tickets you got from a cd purchase like perhaps the ticket code from the new Judas Priest Album? I tried for over an hour last night to find where I can try to enter the code to get my “Free General Admission Ticket” while supplies last of course. I know it’s 3 days after the cd was released and a crapload of people have probably tried. Perhaps if the tickets are gone you would think they would post something on the page about it being over and tickets being gone…there isn’t. Instead I registered for about three things and still couldn’t find where I was supposed to redeem my code. I followed the instructions on the redemption code ticket, but it is very vague.

Idolator.com also ran a story about the BS that Livenation.com puts their loyal subjects to when they buy tickets. More on this story here.

Daily Dose 6/21 Soul Asylum - Misery

June 21, 2008 by Scott

“They say misery loves company
We could start a company
And make misery, Frustrated Incorporated
I know just what you need
I might just have the thing
I know what you’d pay to see.”

Soul Asylum - Misery

I used to really like Soul Asylums sound. Songs like Misery, Black Gold, and Runaway Train to name a few. The problem that I found with Soul Asylum was that the lyrics music seemed to be depressing and a person can only take so much of that. I still really like Runaway Train and I play it on my acoustic every now and then.  But as far as listening to Soul Asylum on a regular basis, those days are long gone.

Rush To Get Hollywood Stars

June 20, 2008 by Scott

geddy-lee_nc According to Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles reports that rock icons, Rush, will be getting their own stars in Hollywood. Personally I think it’s overdue. I’m not the biggest Rush fan, hell, I’m not really much of a Rush fan at all but they have deserved this. They are one of those bands that have that longevity factor like Aerosmith, AC/DC and The Rolling Stones.

“It’s official - RUSH will be getting their star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame! Thanks to efforts of their fans, spearheaded by none other than Donna Halper (the woman who is credited with discovering Rush while working at WMMS-FM in Cleveland back in 1974), Rush will be one of 25 recipients chosen by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame Committee to be enshrined in 2009.”

Staind Sets Release Date for Next Record

June 20, 2008 by Scott

aaronlewis_nc Staind has set the release date for their upcoming album The Illusion Of Progress, for August 19th. The first single, Believe will hit the radio waves next week, June 24th.

Billboard.com reports:

“The band recorded at the studio that Lewis keeps in his barn with producer Johnny K. And while Staind previously swore to rock even harder this time out, Lewis says it’s aware of pressure for another ballad-style track along the lines of such hits as “Outside” and “It’s Been Awhile.”
“That’s what the record label wants,” he says. “You’re foolish not to [be aware] of that.”

Daily Dose Pearl Jam - Better Man

June 20, 2008 by Scott

“She lies and says she’s in love with him
Can’t find a better man
She dreams in color, she dreams in red
Can’t find a better man, can’t find a better man”

Pearl Jam - Better Man from Vitalogy

If you read through the lyrics and listen to the song you can pretty much get what this song is about. I think a lot of people can relate in one way or another. Somewhere, sometime in your life you’ve known this girl or guy.
