Not the first time a rapper has been accused of and had a lawsuit filed against him for using someone elses music without permission. Lil Wayne, or better known by his mother as Dwayne Carter, is being accused by Abkco music inc of using The Rolling Stones song “Playing With Fire” and adding his own lyrics to it. The Rolling Stones did not authorize Lil Wayne to use the song which has explicit language that The Rolling Stones nor their management and label want the public to believe was authorized by the them. Vanilla Ice is saying “I told you so” right about now.

Truly unclassifiable high-energy rockers TUB RING are set to embark on a month-long US tour in August with ‘Lost’ Angeles macabre rock duo CREATURE FEATURE. After kicking off the tour in St. Louis, MO, TUB RING will connect with CREATURE FEATURE at Java Jazz in Houston, TX, continuing from there east and up the east coast before heading through the Midwest and the Rockies on their way to Portland, OR.

The new Candlebox was released this week (Into The Sun) and I have yet to do a review on it. I’m really enjoying it but I can’t yet put it to words yet. I have had a Myspace account for The Rock Dose for awhile now, since I took it over but It’s been kind of stagnant up until yesterday. So I did some work on it and now it looks much better and will help out with some networking and news.

Chiodos’ front man Craig Owens failed suicide attempt.

There is nothing I hate more than hearing about some successful (Or semi-successful) person trying to commit suicide. So if this sounds a little insensitive to you then too bad. I think a lot will agree with me that suicide is stupid and selfish, so as I tell my son when he gets hurt doing something stupid, I have no sympathy for stupidity. With that said, here is the story according to Ultimate-guitar.com on what happened with Craig Owens.

The troubled frontman attempted a drugs overdose at his Michigan home on July 20 and has subsequently checked into an undisclosed mental health facility.

He seemed well enough to post something on his web-site which was removed shortly after apologizing to the kids at the Power Chord Academy and that he is being treated at a mental facility and hopefully he learns from this. I hope he get’s himself together because I don’t feel like writing the same story twice.

Southern Rocker Bo Bice will be playing a free show at Stewart Park in Beaumont California starting at 8pm. Bo is on tour in support of his album See The Light. See The Light is Bo’s second release since coming in as runner up on American Idol and is his first release on his terms. What do I mean by his terms? Just listen The Real Thing. Does it sound like something you would expect from Bo Bice being the southern boy that he is? Or does it sound like some crap that some songwriter wrote for him for Sony to produce?  That wasn’t the real thing. They pretty’d him up and made him sing their songs and their songs sucked! I think See The Light sounds like Bo Bice wrote it and it fits him a lot better than the crap he did right after Idol. See, they sign these contestants from the show, write songs for them, make them do the things they want them to do and then drop them when their album doesn’t sell like expect. Why? Because what people vote for is the style and personality that they see on the episodes of American Idol. Not the cookie cutter form that Clive Davis forms them into to release a record. It’s not about what the label wants and what they think is going to sell anymore. The industry has changed and they don’t realize that people want realism. They don’t want crap like the Backstreet boys and manufactured bands. They want the real deal.

Foreigner is another one of those bands that has a bunch of Best Of CDs out there and pretty much everyone of them have the same songs. They are also one of those bands that will always be a part of rock history with undeniable songs such as Cold As Ice, Hot Blooded, Juke Box Hero and the ballads such as I Want To Know What Love Is and I’ve Been Waiting. Those are just a few of so many great songs from Foreigner.

When I was about 12 my brother had a Foreigner tape and I borrowed it and I was an instant fan. Over the years some changes have come about. Lou Grahams departure churned things in the future with Lou Graham going on tour and being announced as “Lou Graham and Foreigner“, when you really knew it was just Lou Graham and a cover band. However in the past couple of years the rest of the band has found a new singer in Kelly Hansen and I swear you probably would never know the difference unless someone told you.

Our local rock radio station 96 Rock (96.1 FM) out of Raleigh NC are getting ready to head out to the Bahamas from Jacksonville Florida this October and they are taking Marcy Playground and Sponge out there with them. Who? What? Yeah, I know. I haven’t heard either of those names in rock in a long time. But they will be heading out there on a cruise ship from October 23rd to the 27th. Kid Rock got a slap on the wrist for getting in a fight with a customer at one of the most classy places to stop your tour bus when you want something to eat….WAFFLEHOUSE BABY! That’s where I always took the ladies on the first date. (Kidding)

Oh yeah, Kid Rock stopped his tour bus at a Waffle House in Atlanta Georgia last October after a show in the same city. Got in a scuffle with another customer that wound up in the parking lot. He was charged with simple batter. He’s now on probation for a year has to go to anger management and serve some community service for about two weeks.

Look at it this way. At least Kid Rock stays true to the white trash dude that he is (And I’m not saying that in a bad way) and keeps it simple when it comes to eateries. I like Waffle House too…when there isn’t some old ladies lipstick still on my coffee cup when I get it.
