Sammy Hagar Is Cool With McCain Using "Right Now"
August 31, 2008 by Scott
Unlike the rest of the Van Halen camp, former VH front-man, Sammy Hagar said that he’s cool with either candidate using the song because the lyrics fit the times. I used to dislike Hagar as a singer for VH and not do much as a person, but lately, perhaps I’m opening another part of my mind and realizing that Hagar was a great VH front-man, with some really memorable songs during his time in the band and seems like a pretty good dude.
When I wrote the lyrics to ‘Right Now’, I intended them to inspire people to not sit around and wait for something they believed in but to go out and get it, to make a change however they needed to,” he said in a statement. “Whether it was McCain who used the song or if Obama had chosen to use the song, with the current political climate, the lyrics still have the same meaning, and we all need to do something to make a difference, every action counts. In fact, I still feel so strongly about this that I wrote a new song ‘Cosmic Universal Fashion’ with a young Iraqi musician in an attempt to motivate a new generation to the same affect. I am pleased to be associated with the lyrics to my original song and the new one in hopes that both will make people move to make a difference.”

Kiss Perform To Small Crowd In Vegas
August 31, 2008 by Scott
With all the trash talk I do about KISS and Gene Simmons, there is always one thing that I can never say. I could never say that their live shows suck. Although I have never been to one, I could probably ask a million people that have been to a KISS show and they would all tell me that it was amazing. Although some might say that if you’ve seen one KISS show, you’ve seen them all….but still amazing. Now If I were to go to a Kiss show, I would prefer to have done it back in the classic days, but I was too young…or not even born. With all that said, KISS performed in Las Vegas Nevada Friday night to probably one of their smallest crowds in a very long time. 2500 people was the approximate headcount and performed most of their classics…in the encore. Seriously I would have been bored out of my mind for most of the main set, but it’s the closing that counts. Check out the set-list below while I go pop in Double Platinum…
In Review: Royal Bliss Life In-Between
August 30, 2008 by Scott
I wish I could just sum up a review by say “This is just plain out amazing!” but unfortunately I have to give a little more to go by for readers to at least try to respect a review from a person that hates doing reviews. Why do I hate doing reviews? Because sometimes it’s tough to come up with the words to describe just how good or bad a record or band is. I don’t have any formal education in writing, as most bloggers don’t, but I do know good music and I know trash when I hear it. Royal Bliss is far from trash. What I can say is that I am more than impressed with this album. I hate to beat a dead horse into oblivion, but this band is exactly what modern rock needs in this age. Let’s get started…
Hey Jude 40 Years Later
August 30, 2008 by Scott
Where would rock be without The Beatles? Would there be Rock N Roll? I imagine there would be, but maybe it would be a bit different from what it is today? This past week The Beatles released the Hey Jude single on a 45 rpm with Revolution. The original single wasn’t released with the album cover to the right. It was released on Apple Records in a plain black sleeve. This was yet another great step in the success of The Beatles. So what inspired this song? Let’s Find out…
In Review: Taproot: Our Long Road Home
August 29, 2008 by Scott
In 1998 a new hard rock foursome called Taproot from Ann Harbor Michigan was trying to cut a record deal and was in negotiation with a few big names in the record industry. One of those names was a Mr. Fred Durst. He offered them a contract with Interscope Records, but the band held out and signed with Atlantic Records. Durst, being the child that he is, cursed out vocalist Stephen Richards on his home answering machine. It was rumored that Durst told Richards that his band would go nowhere and they would never make it in the music industry. He could not have been more wrong. Read more
Screw You Saul "Slash" Hudson!!!
August 29, 2008 by Scott
Slash commented in the L.A. Times over Antiquiet.com blogger Kevin Cogill. AKA Skwerl, being arrested for leaking unreleased Guns ‘N Roses Chinese Democracy songs on the internet.
“I hope he rots in jail,” Slash told the Los Angeles Times. “It’s going to affect the sales of the record, and it’s not fair. The Internet is what it is, and you have to deal with it accordingly, but I think if someone goes and steals something, it’s theft.”
To this I say: F*ck you, Saul. Surely you have done worse and got away with it. You know what’s going to effect record sales? The fact that this has been sitting on the shelf for 13 years. Trust me, even though a few songs leaked on the Internet, Chinese Democracy will probably sell well over 100,000 copies in it’s first week just because of all the hype. You holier than thou douche bag! You’ve probably screwed under-age girls, done more drugs than most addicts, even admitted to dealing drugs yourself, asshole! Have you ever served time or have been fined for any of that? By the way…The Snake Pit sucked!”
This is the first time I have ever felt any hatred towards Slash. I mean really, worse things are happening in the world and you’re worried about Axl Rose losing record sales from an album that probably sucks, but will sell anyway. At least G ‘n R are more worried about finding the source.
Liquor Ban At Crue Fest
August 28, 2008 by Scott
If you’re heading out to Toronto’s Molsen Amphitheater tonight (If you are, you’re running really late) to check out Crue Fest, you better get all Liquored up before you go. There will be no liquor served tonight at Cruefest reports the Toronto Sun. Does this ban include beer? You bet it does. Ontario Alcohol and Gaming Commission suspended the Liquor license for the event and word has it that this normally happens when teens are allowed to attend these shows.
So ladies, when you flash Tommy’s “Titty Cam” you can’t use the excuse that you were drunk. That is unless you get really trashed and don’t sober up before Motley Crue comes on. Make Daddy proud!

Bigelf ‘Money, It’s Pure Evil’ Video
August 27, 2008 by Scott
I love this band and I love this song. Some say that Bigelf is ripping off a lot of the classic bands. I say maybe, maybe not. Either way, they do an awesome job of it. To keep things vintage, the video was shot in 13mm. Check out Bigelf’s Money, It’s Pure Evil on Cheat The Gallows, out now on Custard Records.
