The December 7th Live Earth India show in Mumbai, India has been canceled due to the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Axl Rose’s Lawyers Call Dr. Pepper Promotion An "Appalling Failure".
November 28, 2008 by Scott
The law offices of Alan S. Gutman, representing Axl Rose and Guns N’ Roses sent a letter to Dr. Pepper this past week. The letter calls their attempt to make good on their promise to give a free Dr. Pepper to everyone in America if Chinese Democracy was released an “appalling failure“. Blabbermouth.net acquired a copy of the 3 page letter in which the lawyers say:
After it became clear that Chinese Democracy would be released in 2008, Dr. Pepper executive Tony Jacobs proudly proclaimed that Dr. Pepper would make good on it’s promise to give a free soda to everyone in America. It turned out that Dr. Pepper did not define “everyone in America” the same way as “everyone in America” defined “everyone in America”. In a cynical attempt to mitigate exposure, Dr. Pepper quickly erected numerous barriers to redemption; to get a free soda, everyone had 24 hours to go to drpepper.com on Sunday, November 23, which meant that the soda was only free to those Americans who heard about the redemption plan in time and had access to a computer on November 23. Further, what happened on November 23 was a complete fiasco. In what could only be characterized as reckless indifference or complete stupidity.
Gene Simmons On Next KISS Studio Album And Search For Canada’s Next Big Rock Band
November 28, 2008 by Scott
KISS bass player and pretty much spokesperson, Gene Simmons has confirmed plans for another KISS Studio Album saying:
“We’ll do a handful of shows just to keep in the game (next) summer, maybe 10 (dates), some Canadian shows. I know Halifax is one, but before you get out there and start the baseball season, they hold exhibition games, that’s what we’re doing. ‘Cause once we go out, it’s going to be for a year and a half.”
He also tells of plans he has for finding the next big rock band for his Canadian label.
Plant Weighs In On Weeded Zeppelin Tour
November 26, 2008 by Scott
Robert Plant has made a statement concerning his non participation in the possible upcoming tour that his former Led Zeppelin band mates may be embarking on. Plant has stressed that he doesn’t want to do a full scale tour and it just seems that some people can’t stop beating a dead horse. Here is what Plant had to say from Manicnirvana.com:
“In January, I’m starting to record a new album with Alison Krauss and T Bone Burnett,” he revealed, before adding “but I understand that everyone’s got to eat,” implying that the Plant-less Led Zep has his blessing.
But before he joined the Big Town Playboys on stage for a couple of bluesy numbers, he imparted one piece of significant information: “They won’t be calling it Led Zeppelin!
So there you have it…now leave the dude alone.
Holy Crap…Some Non-GNR News!
November 24, 2008 by Scott
Amongst the plethora of Guns N Roses Chinese Democracy news and former band members kissing Axl’s corn-row braided ass hairs, hoping for a Guns N Roses Reunion, there is actually some non GNR news!
Bret Michaels of Poison is writing a biography about himself. He says the title is still a working progress but right now it’s just called “The Brett Michaels Story“. I imagine it will have a heading title like “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” or Something To Beleive In”. You know, something to make it sound more interesting that it really is. You can read an interview Michaels had with the Las Vegas Sun.
Charles Nesson, A Harvard Law School Professor is calling the Digital Theft Deterrence and Copyright Damages Improvement Act of 1999 unconstitutional in that a private business (The RIAA) can carry out civil enforcement of a criminal law. Read more on that at Billboard.biz.
Scott Weiland doesn’t know if he has it in him to continue with Stone Temple Pilots if they are forced to complete too many more recordings on Atlantic Records. However, he is very Happy In Galoshes.
Travis Barker is filing a lawsuit over the crash that injured him and took the life of two of his friends. He filing the lawsuit against The Aviation company and Good Year Tire. Read more about that at TMZ.
No Doubt will have a new album out in 2009. Does this mean that Gwen Stephanie’s latest yodeling record didn’t go as far as she would have liked? Maybe. It also makes me what how relevant No Doubt can be in this age of music? Read more about that at Rolling Stone.
Free Dr. Pepper Too Much Of A Hassle?
So Guns N Roses released Chinese Democracy today…woo-friggin-hoo! Sadly the buzz around the Internet right now isn’t about how good or bad Chinese Democracy might be, but rather people upset over trying to get their coupon for a free Dr. Pepper.
It seems Dr. Pepper wasn’t ready for the amount of traffic that would come over their servers from people trying to get their free soda coupon. It’s only available today for 24 hours and if you do get a coupon it expired on February 28th. People are complaining about spending soooo much time trying to find the link on Dr. Pepper’s site. I understand that the folks at Dr. pepper made a silly promise, but at the same time I think people should stop being stupid.
Does KISS Deserve a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction?
November 21, 2008 by Scott
Though the fact remains that I don’t care much for Gene Simmons or KISS these days I still think they should probably be in the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame. Millions of records and merch sold, concert after concert sold out all over the world, millions upon millions of fans and influences on so many bands. Yeah, I think they deserve to be there just as much as, let’s say Metallica or Black Sabbath. Of course Gene Simmons thinks they deserve to be there as well. In a recently taped episode for A&E’s Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels he had this to say:
Confirmed: Velvet Revolver Dropped From RCA Records
November 21, 2008 by Scott
Velvet Revolver’s debut album on RCA records, Contraband has sold close to 2 million records since it’s release in 2004. That’s almost 7 times what their second album Libertad sold since it’s release in 2007. Despite still going triple gold, RCA records has decided to drop Velvet Revolver from their label. The fact that they are without a front-man doesn’t help the matters much either. Perhaps they are figuring that a the next record won’t sell nearly that with a new singer.
Hear All Of Chinese Democracy Now
November 20, 2008 by Scott
Guns N Roses has made the entire Chinese Democracy album available for streaming on their Myspace. I heard all of “Better” on the radio yesterday and it really didn’t sound that bad but it does sound a bit dated and overproduced to me and I don’t see this song sounding good during a live show. It was kind of cool to hear Axl’s voice on new material again. We’ll see what the rest of it sound like (I won’t listen to the streams because I have found that that is the worst way to try and judge an albums sound).
