AFI Rock the Roxy for “Crash Love” Release Party
September 30, 2009 by Eric J
To celebrate the release of their eighth studio album, Crash Love, AFI took to the stage at the world famous Roxy on Sunset thanks to local Los Angeles radio station KROQ. In front of an intimate crowd of hundred’s, rather than thousands that typically fill AFI shows, the band played a thrashing 14 song set filled with classics of the past, and a handful of Crash Love gems that are soon to be just that. Highlights of the night were too many to capsulize, but front man Davey Havok’s front flip into the waiting crowd on “Kill Caustic” and the stunning rendition of The Cure’s classic “Just Like Heaven” marked just a few of the moments that lit up the night. Reminiscent of 1995, AFI welcomed Nick 13 (Tiger Army) and Geoff Kresge (ex AFI/Tiger Army) to the stage to sing “Nyquil,” a track from the band’s first album, Answer That and Stay Fashionable. Electric performances of AFI’s radio singles “Miss Murder” and Crash Love’s “Medicate” put a cap on a night that will not soon be forgotten by the fan’s lucky enough to be present that night.
Fans of AFI who could not be at the show now have the chance to watch a handful of videos from the epic evening on KROQ.com. To find out when and where you can see AFI live, visit www.AFireInside.net/events. Crash Love is in-stores now and available everywhere good music is sold.

Muse Refuses to Lipsync, Hilarity Ensues
British rockers Muse were recently featured on the Italian TV show Quelli Che Il Calcio, and were informed before their performance that they had to lip sync their performance. The band decided that if the nutjob producers wanted to give the audience a fake show, they would be more than happy to comply.
As Muse took the stage, they took their places… but something was wrong. The music to their song “Uprising” began, but wait, was that (singer, guitarist, keyboardist) Matthew Bellamy on drums? Yep. Bassist Christopher Wolstenholme on keyboard and guitars? Check. And taking the stage as vocalist was drummer Dominic Howard. I don’t think that the audience had any clue what they were seeing, but it is an absolutely hilarious mock performance, with Matthew Bellamy really hamming it up on the drums.
The producers of the show should be ashamed of themselves. Check out the clip below.

Papa Roach and JET Announce Co-Headlining U.S. Tour
September 23, 2009 by Eric J
Rock bands Papa Roach and JET will usher in Winter 2009 with a co-headlining tour of the U.S. The affordable and eclectic rock show with a festival feel starts off in late October through the end of November and offers four bands for less than forty dollars. Fans will be treated to no less than fourteen hits in one night, which will include radio smashes like Papa Roach’s “Last Resort,” “Forever,” “Scars,” “Lifeline” (which remained at #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart for 9 weeks) and JET’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” “Cold Hard Bitch,” “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is” and their latest, “She’s A Genius.” Tickets to the first two announced dates go on sale Friday (September 25) for the show in St. Paul, MN at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium on November 5, and Saturday (September 26) for the show in Denver, CO at the Ogden Theatre on October 26.
Known for their electrifying live shows, Papa Roach have been touring nonstop behind their new album and fifth studio recording, Metamorphosis, which debuted at #8 on the Billboard Album Chart earlier this year. Fresh from the road alongside fellow powerhouse Nickelback, frontman Jacoby Shaddix says,
“Playing shows every night is what we’re built for. We make a club feel like an arena and we make an arena feel like a club.”
Indeed Hit Parader raves,
“Papa Roach’s live energy is like a pack of wild horses – unbridled and uncontainable.”
Just returning from traveling twice around the world to set up their new album, Shaka Rock, JET are primed for their first major U.S. tour
to promote the record. The new album closes the gap between the raw roots of Get Born and the grace and melody of Shine On which together went on to make JET an international band of style and substance. After four million albums sold worldwide and four Top Ten Modern Rock and Rock hits, the authentic Aussie rockers have returned to form with an album that parallels their smash, Get Born.
JET’s drummer Chris Cester states,
“We have been going non-stop to bring this album to our fans and we just want to keep going. It’s just so good to be out on the road playing our new music. The band expects to ‘tour our asses off’ for at least the next 18 months.”
A complete list of tour dates and on-sales will be announced shortly.
