Christopher Walken Performs Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”
October 31, 2009 by Eric J
Happy Halloween!
I love Christopher Walken. Who doesn’t? Walken has been known to do a special Halloween performance every once in awhile, such as his brilliant reading of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven”, but this year, he has brought us his interpretation of Lady Gaga’s song “Poker Face” on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
Personally, I like his version better. Check it out below:
U2 Releases Rare Video Footage From The Unforgettable Fire
October 30, 2009 by Eric J
With the re-release of U2’s fourth album, The Unforgettable Fire, the group has decided to share rarely seen before seen video footage with their fans. The video showcases frontman Bono speaking on the recording process of the breakthrough album and flashes back to some of the most historical songs ever written.
The special edition release of The Unforgettable Fire marks 25 years since the album’s original release in October 1984. Recorded at Slane Castle, Ireland, The Unforgettable Fire was the first U2 album to be produced by Brian Eno and Danny Lanois, and spawned two top 10 UK singles – “Pride (In The Name Of Love)” and “The Unforgettable Fire.”
The Unforgettable Fire is available now in four different formats, with deluxe editions that feature two previously unheard tracks from the Slane Castle sessions: “Yoshino Blossom”, and “Disappearing Act” as well as a limited edition Super Deluxe package which includes a DVD featuring music videos, a documentary and unreleased live footage from the Amnesty International Conspiracy of Hope Tour in 1986.
Make sure to check out the video footage in its entirety and visit www.U2.com for more information and for the band’s most recent tour dates.
Papa Roach Partners with World Hunger Year to End Hunger
October 29, 2009 by Eric J
PAPA ROACH PARTNERS WITH WHY (WORLD HUNGER YEAR) TO ACTIVATE FANS TO SUPPORT AN END TO HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS
Formerly Homeless Frontman Has “Had Enough”
BAND CONTINUES HEAVY HEADLINING SCHEDULE WITH BIGGEST BANDS IN ROCK
SHOWS INCLUDE PERFORMANCES WITH JET, SHINEDOWN, BREAKING BENJAMIN,
SICK PUPPIES AND MORE
Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Papa Roach have partnered with WHY (World Hunger Year) to continue their mission to raise funds and awareness for organizations who are working towards finding answers to hunger, poverty and homelessness. Led by frontman Jacoby Shaddix, who revealed earlier this year that he was homeless as a child, the band are on the road supporting their hit CD, Metamorphosis, which addresses many of the current social and economic themes prevalent today. Papa Roach join Bruce Springsteen, Michael McDonald, Jackson Browne, Crosby Stills & Nash, Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Joss Stone, Darryl McDaniels, O.A.R, and many others as part of WHY’s Artists Against Hunger & Poverty program.
Launching on the current co-headlining tour with JET beginning with the November 7th show in Youngstown, OH at the Wedgewood Entertainment Center, Papa Roach’s partnership with WHY will feature an auction in their tour markets where fans bid on an exclusive experience including an interview with the band, side-stage tickets, soundcheck access and much more – with all proceeds going to WHY. To bid now and for more information, please visit www.paparoach.com. In addition to raising money, Papa Roach will build awareness from the stage and visit local food banks and homeless shelters to lend their support. Shaddix explains,
“We’re proud to work with World Hunger Year to help those in need. We’ve been fortunate enough to have a voice and we want to use it by giving back. We encourage everyone to help out their local communities.”
Hillary Zuckerberg of WHY (World Hunger Year) adds,
“WHY is honored to welcome Papa Roach to our Artists Against Hunger & Poverty program. As many as 3.5 million people experience homelessness in a given year and over 36 million people are living in hunger and poverty in the United States. These issues are clearly a priority for the band and Jacoby who have personally taken on the fight to end hunger, poverty and homelessness across the country by engaging their fans in the cause. We are excited to have them as an ally in this mission.”
Known for their electrifying live shows, Papa Roach have been touring nonstop behind their new album and fifth studio recording, Metamorphosis, which debuted at #8 on The Billboard 200 chart earlier this year. Metamorphosis has already spawned the #1 rock hits “Lifeline” and “I Almost Told You That I Loved You,” with “Had Enough” impacting radio now. “Had Enough” illustrates the traumatic impact of the war in Iraq, the foreclosure epidemic and the overall economic and social downturn affecting so many – themes the band identified almost 2 years ago when writing the album.
THE AUCTION IS LIVE NOW AND THE VIP EXPERIENCE WILL BE AVAILABLE STARTING NOVEMBER 7TH IN YOUNGSTOWN, OH

Orianthi Releases Debut Album and Premieres “According to You” Video
October 26, 2009 by Eric J
For fans of Orianthi, This Is It – her debut album Believe is out today. The 24-year-old guitar goddess has released 11 anthemic tracks, best described by Orianthi herself as “rock-pop with an 80’s vibe.” Produced by the famed Howard Benson (The All-American Rejects, Kelly Clarkson), the album features guitar solos on every song and lyrics that beg to be sung along with. Orianthi’s single, “According to You,” is available for free on iTunes as the Single of the Week, while other highlights include the hard-rocking “Bad News” and the instrumental track “Highly Strung,” a duet with legendary guitarist Steve Vai. Visit Orianthi’s Myspace for more information, and be sure to grab Believe today in stores or on iTunes.
Also out now is the music video for “According to You.” Watch Orianthi’s fingers fly across the fretboard as she rocks out with her band, proving yet again that a little attitude and a lot of talent can go a long way.
Orianthi first picked up a guitar at age 6 and since then has never looked back. She has opened for Steve Vai, played with Carlos Santana, ZZ Top and Prince, and blew away the Grammy audience with her performance alongside Carrie Underwood. Most recently she was hand-picked to by the late King of Pop himself to be the guitarist on his tour, and she is featured prominently in This Is It, the Michael Jackson documentary to be released this Wednesday, the 28th.
Sugar Red Drive Survive Serious Auto Accident
October 26, 2009 by Eric J
Early Sunday morning on Oct. 25th, the van carrying members of Sugar Red Drive was involved in a serious accident near Kalamazoo, MI. The vehicle hit a guardrail, spun out, and flipped over. Miraculously, no one was killed. Bass player Dave Alexander suffered the most serious injuries, breaking his arm, dislocating his elbow, and also breaking his thumb. He underwent surgery in a Kalamazoo hospital Sunday afternoon. Incredibly, the other 3 band members and tour manager only suffered bruises and abrasions. Check out a photo of their van after everyone was safely removed:

The band has cancelled their remaining tour dates in October and will resume once everyone has recovered. The Rock Dose sincerely hopes that everyone recovers quickly.
Sugar Red Drive’s self-titled album, featuring radio hit, “One More Time,” is in stores now. Check out their MySpace page for the latest updates on the band and make sure to pick up your copy of the album today!

Puddle Of Mudd Ready Dec 8th Release – Unveil New Single Spaceship
October 26, 2009 by Eric J
Puddle of Mudd, the Los Angeles-based quartet known for huge rock radio singles, is gearing up to release their fourth studio album entitled Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate.
Recording Volume 4 in Vancouver & Los Angeles, Puddle Of Mudd smartly re-enlisted the talents of Brian Howes, who produced the 2007’s Famous and John Kurzweg, who produced 2001’s album, Come Clean.

“Even though we hate messing with success, we felt adding newcomer Brain Virtue to the producer mix would be a welcome change. What we got is 10 tracks of exactly what we were looking for. It’s easy and predictable to say I’m most proud of this record, but I think it’s more appropriate to say I’m most proud of what
we’ve accomplished as a band to this point.”
The album which will hit stores December 8th on Flawless / Geffen Records features “Spaceship,” a hook-heavy single ready to launch into radio rotation. “Spaceship” will be available on iTunes and Amazon starting 10/27.
