Another "Super Group" About To Record
I hate the term “Super Group”, but this one could be interesting. You have Sammy Hagar, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, RHCP drummer Chad Smith and Joe Satriani on guitar. Billboard reported:
CLEVELAND (Billboard) - After playing together live for the first time in February during a solo Sammy Hagar concert in Las Vegas, a new group featuring the ex-Van Halen vocalist, bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith is making an album.
“We were very excited about that show,” Satriani told Billboard.com. “We had never played together before, and when we walked off stage, we looked at each other like, ‘Wow, there’s a connection here. We should do something about it.’ So last week we were together for five days and we recorded nine tracks.
Joe Satriani goes on to say that as soon as Sammy and himself finish up their separate solo tours, recording with reconvene in Northern, CA. They are looking for an April release and a tour soon after.

I am really looking forward to this record; Sammy is such a cool down-to-earth rocker, Satch can still boogie, Anthony can keep a simple bass line pumping, and then there is Chad Smith…who I am not a big fan of, but that is mainly due to the post 1990s RHCP releases of Californiacation and the three others that sound exactly the same. At least the Red Rocker is doing something interesting once again.
