Pink Floyd Converse All Stars
Pink Floyd. Just the name brings such a joy to me heart. I’m not one of those fans that gushes over the early Pink Floyd works, but I still love the band for the albums that I own and the spectacle of their live shows.

Pink Floyd WYWH All Stars
Even David Gilmour still brings a smile to my face every time I hear his voice in his solo work. It’s soothing, trippy rock & roll that just makes you feel good. You don’t have to be a drug user to enjoy Pink Floyd as a lot of people assume. You just have to be a person that enjoys great music. Pink Floyd are simply legends in rock and Converse knows that.
In celebration of 100 years of the Converse All Stars, Converse has been releasing special edition “Chucks” in all sorts of different flavors. From The Who, The Doors, Ozzy Osbourne to Black Sabbath, Converse has been celebrating their legacy as well as giving tribute to some of the greatest bands in rock history. Their latest edition is the Pink Floyd line of All Stars, branded with designs of historic albums from the band. Read more
Top 10 Rock Albums Of 2008
December 9, 2008 by Scott
My Rock Dose Top 10 Rock Albums Of 2008 covers mainly established rock acts and not this new wave of modern rock as we know it. I’ll go through each none and tell you why I chose it. Take in to consideration that I only went through bands that I’ve heard this year and not every rock album that has come out. If you expect Nickelback or Hinder to be on this list then you came to the wrong place. So what does this list mean? Nothing really, it’s just MY favorite picks of 2008, so don’t cry if your favorite band didn’t make my cut. Instead give them a shout in the comment section.
Converse Celebrates 100 Years Combining Classic Bands With Classic Shoes
October 12, 2008 by Scott
Converse is celebrating 100 years of converse with a new line of the Classic “Chuck Taylor” All Stars. 100 years, really? That’s right. Converse started up 100 years ago in 1908 as Converse Rubber Corporation. Nine years later the Converse All Star basketball shoe was born. Still a timeless classic that has survived through almost a century of changes in footwear fashion and design. Very few things have lasted so long without deviating too far from the original design.
As part of their new designs celebrating their 100th anniversary, Converse started unveiling a line of rock band inspired All Stars sold at Journey’s. Bands featured in this line is The Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, The Doors, The Who, Ozzy Osbourne, and Pink Floyd.
The first line to roll out is the Grateful Dead design. With a white on white look with the classic Grateful Skull and Roses. Also available are low-tops with the classic Dancing Bears.

David Gilmour Live In Gdansk
September 18, 2008 by Scott
I’m not a huge fan of live albums. In fact sometimes I just don’t see the point. Why? Because some bands just don’t sound all that great live. Pink Floyd on the other hand are one of those bands that I do like hearing live. Unfortunate for me, I never got to see a Pink Floyd live show. However I can still enjoy the live cd’s and now this. David Gilmour does an incredible job covering the classics and his own originals.
David Gilmour Live In Gdańsk is a double live album plus concert DVD to be released on September 23rd on Columbia Records. David Gilmour Live In Gdansk, the first solo live album from Pink Floyd’s singer / guitarist, captures the magic of his concert held in front of 50,000 in the Gdansk shipyards, the final performance of his critically acclaimed 2006 On An Island tour. It also features the first ever recording of selected Pink Floyd classics performed with an orchestra.
Pink Floyd’s Richard Wright Dies At Age 65
September 17, 2008 by Scott
Two days ago one of the founding members of one of the greatest bands to ever compose music, Pink Floyd, died at only 65 years old. Richard Wright died after a brief battle with cancer. Iheartmusic.com reports:
He helped write a number of the group’s hit albums including Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish You Were Here before quitting in 1981 following a bust-up with Waters.
After an unsuccessful attempt at a solo career, Wright rejoined Pink Floyd six years later, after Waters had left, and he continued to perform and record with Mason and new frontman David Gilmour.
Wright reunited with Waters onstage in 2005 when the group put aside its differences to perform at the Live 8 charity concert in London - but dismissed suggestions the band may reform for a money-spinning tour.
Thank you, Richard for being part of so many peoples love for the art form that you helped sculpt in many great ‘Floyd songs. Rest In Peace.
The Art Of Reinventing A Rock Band
July 27, 2008 by Scott
Gibson.com had a great article on bands that have reinvented themselves in an attempt to bring them up to date and become a hit again. Some have been successful in the past and some….well, not so good. Then there are some such as Pink Floyd, who had no choice but to reinvent themselves and carry on when Syd Barrett departed because of mental illness. I’m going to mention two that reinvented themselves.
Kiss reinvented themselves when they shed the make up with two new members of the band. This didn’t work out so well for the band gaining new members and to be totally honest, everything before the ‘unmasking’ was the music that put them where they are. They even tried Disco. If that doesn’t cry “Sell-Out” I don’t know what does. Even today they are attempting to reinvent themselves one more time by re-recording classic kiss songs and it may even be possible that they replace every member of KISS. These days the new acronym for K.I.S.S. is Keep Improving Sales Strategy.
Us And Them : Symphonic Pink Floyd
June 29, 2008 by Scott
Us And Them: Symphonic Pink Floyd is a work of art that no Pink Floyd an should be without. Symphonic Pink Floyd you say? Hell yeah! Originally released in 1995, the London Philharmonic Orchestra did an amazing job. If you can already imagine the phenomena of the sound of Pink Floyd and then imagine it done by an orchestra. There isn’t much more I can say to describe just how cool this cd is. Some critics may say that it lacks some things that make a Pink Floyd song what it is, but I beg to differ. When you do a tribute to a legendary band such as Pink Floyd, you can’t expect to have everything you need to make it perfect or try to emulate the band. It’s a tribute not an attempt to out-do the original. You can sample the songs from Us And Them at Amazon.com. It’s a great addition to anyone’s Pink Floyd Collection. Even if you have never listened to Pink Floyd and like Symphony Orchestras, check this out and you may just find out that you ARE a Pink Floyd fan.
