Holy Crap…Some Non-GNR News!
November 24, 2008 by Scott
Amongst the plethora of Guns N Roses Chinese Democracy news and former band members kissing Axl’s corn-row braided ass hairs, hoping for a Guns N Roses Reunion, there is actually some non GNR news!
Bret Michaels of Poison is writing a biography about himself. He says the title is still a working progress but right now it’s just called “The Brett Michaels Story“. I imagine it will have a heading title like “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” or Something To Beleive In”. You know, something to make it sound more interesting that it really is. You can read an interview Michaels had with the Las Vegas Sun.
Charles Nesson, A Harvard Law School Professor is calling the Digital Theft Deterrence and Copyright Damages Improvement Act of 1999 unconstitutional in that a private business (The RIAA) can carry out civil enforcement of a criminal law. Read more on that at Billboard.biz.
Scott Weiland doesn’t know if he has it in him to continue with Stone Temple Pilots if they are forced to complete too many more recordings on Atlantic Records. However, he is very Happy In Galoshes.
Travis Barker is filing a lawsuit over the crash that injured him and took the life of two of his friends. He filing the lawsuit against The Aviation company and Good Year Tire. Read more about that at TMZ.
No Doubt will have a new album out in 2009. Does this mean that Gwen Stephanie’s latest yodeling record didn’t go as far as she would have liked? Maybe. It also makes me what how relevant No Doubt can be in this age of music? Read more about that at Rolling Stone.
The Gravel Report 8/4
August 4, 2008 by Scott
No, I’m not dead. I’ve been on vacation. I wanted to do some updates but was busy with a lot of other activities with the family and Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest in VA Beach on Friday. Here’ is what happened in rock news over the weekend and I’ll be updating through out the day.
Lallapalooza turned in to Rage-apallooza when all hell broke loose during Rage Against The Machine’s set. A bunch of people were taken to the hospital and there was word that some people were intentionally hurting other people and stopping them from exiting.
Daily Dose 7/17 Learn The Intro To G n’ R’s ‘Sweet Child Of Mine’
July 17, 2008 by Scott
Ever just want to learn how to play the lead from Sweet Child Of Mine on guitar? It’s got to be too hard, right? Wrong. It’s actually pretty easy. You can start it out slowly and work your way up. With a normal guitar and amp setup you won’t be able to get the tone like Slash but it still makes for fun play and learning.
In case you are not familiar with reading tab, it’s fairly easy. The top line is the Hi E string and the bottom line is the Low E string. The number on each line represents the fret and string to play. For more info on tabs you can visit Ultimate-guitar.com

I’m going to take a break from the norm with the Daily Dose. It can get kind of stale every day to search for a video and lyrics and find something good to say about it.
Led Zeppelin’s Stairway To Heaven is undoubtedly a classic song that is either loved or hated by everyone. Some that love it don’t even know the lyrics and often just word their own in there when they sing it when it comes on the radio. That’s the great thing about the Internet. Even though it was the only song on Led Zeppelin 4 (Or whatever you prefer to call it) with the lyrics printed in the jacket, some people don’t own the album. Some people have got a copy from the Internet, a friend or whatever because they are not really Zeppelin fans. They just like Stairway. Can’t blame them. So here are the lyrics to Stairway To Heaven in it’s entirety…after the fold.
Daily Dose 7/12 Shinedown - Call Me
July 12, 2008 by Scott
“Call me a sinner, call me a saint
Tell me it’s over I’ll still love you the same
Call me your favorite, call me the worst
Tell me it’s over I don’t wan’t you to hurt
It’s all that I can say. So, I’ll be on my way
I’ll always keep you inside, you healed my
Heart and my life… And you know I try.”
Shiedown - Call Me
Here is a cool song from Shinedown’s new album The Sound Of Madness. No comments to be said about this song. It’s just one of many great songs from The Sound Of Madness. Lyrics after the fold.
Daily Dose 7/11 Aerosmith - Janie’s Got A Gun
July 11, 2008 by Scott
“She had to take him down easy
And put a bullet in his brain
She said cause nobody believes me
The man was such a sleeze
He aint never gonna be the same”
Aerosmith - Janie’s Got A Gun~
Closing out the week of Aerosmith Daily Doses with Janie’s Got A Gun. Great song, great video. Now a few words…there is absolutely no denying that Aerosmith know how to put on a great show. With one of the biggest mouths and widest ranges of vocals Steven Tyler has it all. One of the greatest front-men in rock and roll backed up by such a cohesive and talented band, there is nothing anyone can really say to discredit a band that has been going strong for over 35 years. There are only a handful of bands still around that can fit into that bracket. The band has seen their ups and downs, ins and outs of rehab but have still held strong throughout the years and still never sold less than gold records even in the digital age of today. Although the band has always had a pop-driven sound to them, these days it’s more evident but I still can’t find a negative thing to say about Aerosmith. How much longer can we expect Aerosmith to keep on doing what they do? Who honestly knows but Aerosmith. No matter where they go or when they stop we will always have everything they have left in their wake of their rock n roll legacy. Lyrics after the fold… Read more
Daily Dose 7/10 Aersomith - Big Ten Inch Record
July 10, 2008 by Scott
“Got me the strangest woman
Believe it, this chicks no sinch
When I wanna get her goin
Then I whip out my big ten inch”
Aerosmith -Big Ten Inch~
Big Ten Inch what?? You’ll have to listen to the song or read the lyrics to find out…but chances are if your not an Aerosmith fan or have never heard the song before, your guess is probably not correct. Another older classic Aerosmith hit. The blues are obviously an influence of the band, and why wouldn’t the blues be an influence. The blues pretty much influence every rock song in history and if you think I’m wrong then you need to check the history of rock and roll. Lyrics after the fold.
Daily Dose 7/9 Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion
July 9, 2008 by Scott
“You talk about things and nobody cares
You’re wearing other things that nobody wears
You’re calling my name but you gotta make clear
I can’t say baby where I’ll be in a year “
What’s there to really tell about Sweet Emotion. Another classic Aerosmith hit about groupies and living the rock star, love on the run lifestyle. Lyrics after the fold.
Daily Dose 7/8 Aerosmith - Dream On
July 8, 2008 by Scott
“I know what nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know its everybodys sin
You got to lose to know how to win”
Aerosmith - Dream On~
It doesn’t get much more classic Aerosmith than this. The music has a deep sound to it as do the lyrics have a deep message. “Everybody’s got their dues in life to pay” and “You got to lose to know how to win”. Those are two statements to live by. I’m not the first to say this and I won’t be the last. Nothing is handed to you in life without a price. One way or another you have to pay for the spoils of life and work hard to achieve your dreams through perseverance and pain…Dream big, Dream on! Lyrics after the fold. Read more
Double Dose Aerosmith - Back In The Saddle
July 7, 2008 by Scott
“I’m back in the saddle again
I’m back
I’m back in the saddle again
I’m riding, I’m loading up my pistol
I’m riding, I really got a fistful
I’m riding, I’m shining up my saddle
I’m riding, this snake is gonna rattle”
Aerosmith - Back In The Saddle~
Back In The Saddle was one of my favorites as a kid. I don’t know what it is about this song, but it just gets you going. Used in various movie sound tracks, this song is undoubtedly an anthem for someone getting back on their feet, making a comeback, coming back to life, etc. There is really not much more I can say about this song besides it’s just a classic Aerosmith song. Enjoy the live, 20 year old performance from Houston 1988. Lyrics after the video.
