Many people tuned into the BBC this morning were treated to a brand new song by Radiohead. The song is called “Harry Patch (In Memory Of) and is dedicated to the last remaining WWI veteran to fight in the trenches, who died on July 25th at the old age of 111. Filming has begun on the biographical account of the tumultuous rise to fame of the all-girl 70’s rock group, The Runaways. The movie is based on stories within original lead-singer Cherie Currie’s book ‘Neon Angel’ which is basically a collection of her experiences as a rock-star.

Holy Crap…Some Non-GNR News!

Amongst the plethora of Guns N Roses Chinese Democracy news and former band members kissing Axl’s corn-row braided ass hairs, hoping for a Guns N Roses Reunion, there is actually some non GNR news!
Bret Michaels of Poison is writing a biography about himself. He says the title is still a working progress but right now it’s just called “The Brett Michaels Story“. I imagine it will have a heading title like “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” or Something To Beleive In”. You know, something to make it sound more interesting that it really is. You can read an interview …read more

Farm Aid 2008 Covered By Betsy Hijazi

Farm Aid was established 23 years ago.  As everyone was trying to Feed the World, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young came together and said it was important to take care of America first, specifically America’s family farmers.
Farm Aid’s concerts over the past 23 years have generated 30 million dollars in donations, a far cry from the 40 million that the Live Aid benefit generated in its inaugural event also 23 years ago.  One big difference between Farm Aid and Live Aid is that Farm Aid is still here.  It’s still going strong and it is still …read more

The Gravel Report 8/4

No, I’m not dead. I’ve been on vacation. I wanted to do some updates but was busy with a lot of other activities with the family and Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest in VA Beach on Friday. Here’ is what happened in rock news over the weekend and I’ll be updating through out the day.
Lallapalooza turned in to Rage-apallooza when all hell broke loose during Rage Against The Machine’s set. A bunch of people were taken to the hospital and there was word that some people were intentionally hurting other people and stopping them from exiting.

Daily Dose 7/17 Learn The Intro To G n’ R’s ‘Sweet Child Of Mine’

Ever just want to learn how to play the lead from Sweet Child Of Mine on guitar? It’s got to be too hard, right? Wrong. It’s actually pretty easy. You can start it out slowly and work your way up. With a normal guitar and amp setup you won’t be able to get the tone like Slash but it still makes for fun play and learning.
In case you are not familiar with reading tab, it’s fairly easy. The top line is the Hi E string and the bottom line is the Low E string. The number on each line represents …read more
