Convert Vinyl To MP3
A lot of music lovers have vinyl of some sort. I have a small collection of Vinyl of some reprints of classic metal albums and even some vinyl dating back to the early 70’s. I pick up vinyl every now and then at metal shows and at record stores of modern bands when I like an album even if I already have the cd. It’s the physical aspect and the art of the album that I dig. Sometimes you can find records at thrift shops and pawn shops. My latest acquisition has been Judas Priest’s classic Screaming For Vengeance that I found at a pawn shop still with the plastic wrapping (opened at one end) for $3.00. Some people like the raw sound of vinyl that you don’t get with cd’s. These days there are devices that you can transfer the sound of vinyl to mp3.
Guitar Center sells a converter turn table that you can record vinyl straight to mp3 without a computer and straight to a usb memory stick. That goes for about $170. You can also pick up a turntable at Bed, Bath & Beyond that plugs in to your computer with software for $99. They also carry one that looks like a vontage record player that you can record tapes and records directly to cd or plug in to you computer. That will run you about $199. Here are three different styles to choose from: Crosley Keepsake USB Turntable, Innovative Technology Phono/Tape to CD, and USB Turntable/Vinyl Archiver.
If you want that vintage sound to take with you wherever you go you can purchase one of these items and keep from having to handle your vinyl and keep them in prestige condition. I have yet to buy one, but it’s on my wish list of future purchases. This would also make a great gift for a vinyl collector that likes having their collection on cd or mp3.
A few of my prized vinyl possessions are:
- Woodstock 1969 3 record set.(It may be 4 records. I haven’t taken it out of the box in awhile and I can’t remember)
- The Doors self titled debut original
- Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (On Capitol Records)
- Megadeth: Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying (Capital Records Promotional Copy)
- Megadeth: So Far So Good…So What (Original pressing)
- Judas Priest: Sin After Sin (Original Pressing)
- Motley Crue: Shout At the Devil (Original Pressing)
- Slayer: ‘Till Death Do Us Part (Limited bootleg Pressing)
I had a chance to buy an original Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All pressing back in the 90’s but passed it up. I have a reprint, but I kick myself in the ass for not buying that original when I had a chance. These days you can find all sorts of good stuff up on ebay though.
Do you have a prized vinyl possession? Let me know what you’ve got. I love to hear what other people have.

I would love to have one of this players, i’ve seen some pretty cool designs,. At one time i use to have a old player model but few years back while moving i threw it away and some vinyls so i kind of regret it now. As far as this devices you’ve mentioned they are really good, good quality and less complicated, unless you can’t afford it there’s few cheaper PC programs out there that you can use but then you have to learn how to use them.
i remember few weeks back checking on craigslist somebody was selling a lot of vinyls, can’t remember the artist or the tittles, but you can check every once in a while you might find something good.
