Dr. Pepper Calls Chinese Democracy Record Sales An "Appalling Failure".
December 3, 2008 by Scott
I’m just kidding. That just seemed like a proper and funny title considering what went down last week. But seriously, everyone expected this record to sell a million copies in it’s first week due to great anticipation that has been building for over a decade now. Granted, sales still did better than most rock bands these days, landing Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy at #3 on the Billboard 200. It only sold about 261,000 copies and that includes 25k digital sales. That’s a far cry from what they expected. Perhaps it’s because of the economy right now, or maybe it’s because most people that bought it are older fans and Guns N Roses just isn’t that relevant anymore. Why do you think it didn’t sell as much as they anticipated? Take the poll.

I had to laugh at the title, nice one. It would have been way better if it was true. Start some petty BS argument. Ha
But I do have to agree with the last answer on your poll: It’s not Guns N’ Roses.
Axl should have used a new band name, and not have tried to capitalize on the GN’R name. Its a shame really…
Well we could say that about quite a few bands these days, though. We have to look at it this way. At one time it was Guns N Roses, back when he owned the rights to the name and started working on it. Can you really work on something for 14 years under a name you own and not release it under that name? 14 years ago nobody would have said that.
We could say the same thing about Megadeth and maybe even Danzig.
It’s good to know that I can count on you for a much needed laugh…lol
That was the first title that came to mind when I saw how low the sales were…couldn’t help it.
I freak’n love it! Good to hear Axl back at’er. I’m still loyal…even though I’ve been made to wait for a new album since the tender age of 11!
