“Tell sanchito that if he knows what is good for him he best go run and hide. Daddy’s got a new .45. and I won’t think twice to stick that barrel straight down sancho’s throat. Believe me when I say that I got somethin for his punk ass.”
Sublime - Santeria~
This is one of my favorite Sublimesongs. Sublime were a great band that sampled many other classic rock and reggae bands and put their own mix of punk rock and ska into the songs. This song is pretty obvious what it’s all about. In case you’re not fluent in Spanish as I am not either, a “Sanchito” or “Sancho” is “The other guy”. When the video was shot it was after Bradley Nowell had passed away from a heroin overdose, an addiction he struggled with for a long time and was often a part of his lyrical content. Sublime’s last release was their self titled album but there were a few great ones before that and they are all classic Sublimealbums in my opinion. If you like Sublime’s self titled album check out 40 oz To Freedom, Robbin’ The Hood and Second Hand Smoke . Lyrics after the fold. Read More
Us And Them: Symphonic Pink Floyd is a work of art that no Pink Floyd an should be without. Symphonic Pink Floyd you say? Hell yeah! Originally released in 1995, the London Philharmonic Orchestra did an amazing job. If you can already imagine the phenomena of the sound of Pink Floyd and then imagine it done by an orchestra. There isn’t much more I can say to describe just how cool this cd is. Some critics may say that it lacks some things that make a Pink Floyd song what it is, but I beg to differ. When you do a tribute to a legendary band such as Pink Floyd, you can’t expect to have everything you need to make it perfect or try to emulate the band. It’s a tribute not an attempt to out-do the original. You can sample the songs from Us And Them at Amazon.com. It’s a great addition to anyone’s Pink Floyd Collection. Even if you have never listened to Pink Floyd and like Symphony Orchestras, check this out and you may just find out that you ARE a Pink Floyd fan.
“Take the light, undarken everything around me Call the clowns and listen closely, I’m lost without you Call your name every day when I feel so helpless I’m fallin’ down but I’ll rise above this, rise above this.”
Bring it up to modern day today. Seether’s Rise Above This video from the new cd Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces. I’m not 100% sure, but it’s said that this song is about Shaun Morgan’s (The Singer) brother that committed suicide but was actually written before his death. I think the message here is that suicide is not a way out. It hurts everyone around you and no matter how depressed you are and the problems you have, there are people that love you and can help. Of course we know this is nothing that hasn’t been said before but sometimes people need to be reminded. Lyrics after the fold.

OK, you don’t have to be a “Skank” per se to want to spend time with Brett Michaels…but chances are…
“Sister Christian, oh the time has come And you know that you’re the only one to say, OK Where you goin’, what you looking for You know those boys don’t want to play no more with you”
This is one of those timeless classics…that you don’t want your friends to catch you listening to. An early 80’s movie anthem that has that drum beat that builds up and then MOTORIN’!!!! You know your singing along right now, maybe bobbin your head a little. Don’t be ashamed. This song is cool and everyone knows it, it’s just been over played.

“If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat If you get too cold, I’ll tax the heat If you try to walk, I’ll tax your feet”
So Bonnaroo was a hell of a festival this year with all sorts of artists from all aorts of genres. Metal, R&B, Bluegrass, yuo name a genre it was probably there (With the exception of Black Metal). Wish I could have been there..in the heat…and the stink…and all the overpriced vendors. But really…I wish I could have been there.
Pearl Jam’s show ran later than everyone had expected…to include Kanye West. It ran an hour over and ruined everything for Kanye West and people gave him a bad review to which he was furious about. FURIOUS!! Kanye, you need to be mentally “Stronger” and grow up a bit. And as for you Pearl Jam, you late running, show stealers…I don’t know who you guys think you are, having only been around for over 15 years, but you better stop ruining everything for the next guy, damn it!
Call me old, whatever. But I like VH1 and VH1 Classic…sometimes. Like when they are showing good stuff and not crap, which is opnly about half the time. But that’s the MTV network for you. What used to be Music Television has hardly anything to do with music except for off peak hours when no one is watching. That’s when they show the videos. Anyway, VH1 Classic is showing all sorts of Rock N Roll goodies next weekend. So if you’re off for the holiday weekend and have nothing better to do than sit inside and relax, then tune in to VH1 and check out this line up…
