Seether Cover Wham! Careless Whispers

April 22, 2009 by Scott

I heard Seether’s Cover of Wham’s Careless Whispers a few weeks ago and then was reminded again about it by Musicgoat.com. I heard it again on the radio today and I don’t feel ashamed at all when I sing along to…Seether’s version. I probably heard this a thousand times coming from my sister’s room in the early 80’s. Seether make it, well, sound like Seether covering Aha. Is it better than the original? Well, I can’t really say that I liked the original, but this one works for me. This isn;t the best quality sound but it will give you the gist of it. You can find this single on iTunes and such. Enjoy.

Endless Hallway Album Stream And Tour Dates

April 22, 2009 by Scott

autonomy_games_cover-lo Endless Hallway are streaming their new album Autonomy Games on Rapsody right now. Endless Hallway are currently on tour and will be on tour with Vast, starting on May 15th. Your dates after the fold.

I had a chance to check out Endless Hallway last week. Unfortunately I showed up way too early and couldn’t sit through the first three bands and left after the second song of the second band. I don’t remember the name of the band but all I could think of was the line from Sublime’s song Garden Grove, where he’s talking about why his “Soul is unsound” and says “Sittin’ Through a Shitty Band,”. I just couldn’t stick around and I might have missed a good show, considering that I’m not familiar with these guys so I can really say anything negative about them. Here are the tour dates.

The Dark Side Of The…Record Industry

April 21, 2009 by Scott

Dark Side Of The Moon Braveword.com is reporting that EMI may be facing legal action from one of their most profitable assets. Pink Floyd, I’m not sure which members are actually representing the band, are taking legal action claiming that EMI is “Miscalculating” their royalty payments.

The unprecedented legal claim is a glimpse at the fraught relationship between EMI, under the ownership of Guy Hands’s Terra Firma, and some of the label’s leading acts. The new owner’s arrival in 2007 was blamed for the departure of acts such as Radiohead and Paul McCartney.

The report also goes on to say that the legal action may have come about due to royalty payment negotiations that have been ongoing for the last couple of years since Hand’s acquisition of the company.

As far as my opinion on this matter goes, the record company owes their bands royalties from record sales. Regardless of cutting costs, the bands that already get royalty checks are due their money. I feel that they’ll have to find other ways to cut costs instead of ripping off the artists anymore than they already are.

Win A Fender Telecaster Signed By The Pretenders

April 19, 2009 by Scott

Pretenders British rockers The Pretender have been around for over 30 years and have released 9 studio Albums to include 2008’s Break Up The Concrete. Though various line-up changes and even deaths may have plagued the band throughout the years, they have persevered and continued on despite sometimes being referred to as a Pretenders tribute band. Original members Pete Farndon and James Honeyman-Scott, both died of unfortunate drug related causes within a year of each other. They aren’t the first and only band to endure these perils of rock and roll, but nonetheless chose to carry on doing what they love.

If there’s one thing that legendary Pretender’s front woman Chrissie Hynde swears by, it’s a good Fender Telecaster. Now’s your chance to enter to win this one of a kind autographed guitar from LP33.tv and the Pretenders. You can enter once a day, so the more you come back–the better your chances. The contest ends on May 13th.

Swamp Music 35 Years Later

April 16, 2009 by Scott

Souther rock legends, Lynyrd Skynyrd released their second album, Second Helping 35 years ago, yesterday. So how do you follow up a debut album with such amazing southern rock anthems as Simple Man, Free Bird and Tuesday’s gone? You release another album with more classic songs such as Swamp Music, Sweet Home Alabama, The Ballad Of Curtis Loew, Don’t Ask Me No Questions and Call Me The Breeze. See this was back in the 70’s when rock bands had to release albums with great songs instead of one single and an album full of filler.

Skynyrd didn’t establish themselves in the rock and roll world with glitz and glamour, they played songs that people could relate to. Bluesy, country rock that people loved and still love today. The Johnny Van Zant fronted version of Skynyrd will be on tour with Kid Rock this summer.
