Steve Adler’s Pipe Dream

November 19, 2008 by Scott

Steven Adler, the former Drummer of Gun’s N’ Roses has a dream of a G n’ R reunion. I think Slash does too and that’s why he’s kissing a lot of Axl Rose ass lately. Steve Adler has suffered with his addiction for sometime now and that is what caused his booting from the band back in the 90’s. Adler’s lawyer had this to say according to Gibson.com and Reuters:

“When he gets sober, they’ll accept him into the band and then they’ll do a comeback album and a world tour, that’s the dream of Steven Adler,” Sands told Reuters.

The article also goes on to say that Adler has a speech impediment after suffering a stroke from a speedball overdose. It makes me wonder if he had a stroke that caused a speech impediment, how has this effected his drumming? Even if a Guns N’ Roses reunion was to happen, would he be able to hold the drumming duties? I think that it’s important for him to deal with one step at a time and kick this addiction before jumping in to something that might never really happen. A relapse could certainly happen if there was a reunion.

Could Axl curb his ego long enough to make a reunion happen? Probably not.

  1. It’s obvious that you have not seen or heard him play at Adler’s Appetite or The Road Crew for he is still pretty good drummer even if he’s a little like Ozzy Osbourne after all that heroin. i saw an interview with Adler when he says that he had done heroin like all the other guys for every day for a few years and then one day he couldn’t afford it so he was off heroin that day if you know any (ex) drug abuser you should know that when they (tried) quit on drugs they are well hung over (times 50 normal hung over’s) and he says that he was sick like a dog that day he recorded civil war and he had tried to convict the others to move the record day ’til he was better but they couldn’t so that’s a pretty good reason for 20-30 tries to do somthing like drumming a whole song.

  2. but who cares if the reunion does happen that will be great and if it doesn’t, well we’ve lived here since 1989 without the original gn’r band

You’re right, I haven’t seen Adler’s solo act. Good for him. I’ve known addicts and have seen the way they react to less than a day with heroin and I’ve even lost a friend to heroin who was off it for awhile. He was about to go back in to the military and wanted to do it one last time. Unfortunately that night he did just as much as he used to in one shot and it killed him.

I hope Adler can fully recover from his addiction and to see an actual Guns N Roses reunion would be a mighty thing to happen. Unfortunately I don’t think it will happen any time soon. Even if it did, how long would it last? I’m not saying that Adler shouldn’t hope for a reunion, but I just think it’s a bit far fetched right now. We’ll have to see how successful Chinese Democracy is and how successful the touring cycle goes.

  4. I’m sorry about your friend i lost a cousin too. but anyways. Chinese Democracy is out now and it’s really good the only comments i have on it was that the guitar solos were no match to slash and it needed all the punk in it but listen to it ;)

Steve should concentrate on getting and staying clean and out of trouble! GnR can’t get it together yet. I lost my wife to heroin (not to death) but suffering like a wounded dog. Don’t lose your dream Stevie, but stay alive and keep the faith brother.

steve has a long and hard road to recover , my daughter was a addict for 5 years , it was tuff but she detox and went on methadone then they ween her off she;s been drug free for three years it was the toughest thing she hard to do thank god :)

I’m glad for your daughters success. It is always nice to know we can get well. I just filed for a divorce because the methadone has done nothing but cause more problems. I refer to it as liquid chains ,especially when it is not being used in conjunction with some sort of other treatment. Most people at the local clinic are taking all kinds of other stuff and I have little faith in it. I kicked 21 years ago and it wasn’t easy, but I did it. I do know of a few people that methadone has helped, but in my opinion, you want to stop using, you need to stop. I am glad for your daughter Franf and God Bless.
