R.I.P. Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley

Somehow this completely slipped my mind this week. Yesterday something was telling me there was significance in April 8th and the  I saw on my facebook someone mentioned that Kurt Cobain Died on April 8th, when we know the reality was that he wasn’t discovered until the 8th and they dated his death as the 5th. I wasn’t going to be a snotty rocker and correct them because most people think of the 8th as the day Kurt died, because that’s the day we all found out.

Layne Staley’s death is dated April 5th as well, though his body wasn’t …read more

Duff McKagan recently talked about Alice In Chains Recording with new singer William Duvall in his weekly blog column “Reverb” at Seattleweekly.com. Here is just a snippet. Click the link above if you want to read the whole thing.
“My opinion may not be a popular one, especially here in Seattle. There seems to be an attitude of ‘Who the hell do you guys think you are? You can’t go on without Layne [Staley, late ALICE IN CHAINS singer]!’ While his death was heartbreakingly sad and needless, does this mean we all must shut the door on …read more

Alice In Chains Start Recording In October

Alice In Chains will be heading in to the recording studio to start recording their first record with new singer, William DuVall. This is great news for AIC fans everywhere. Although it’s tough for a band to record a new album with a new singer after so many great releases with the late Layne Staley, word has it that most Alice In Chains fans have taken a liking to William DuVall and he does a great job filling the huge shoes Staley left behind after his death by overdose back in 2002. I’m eager to see what this is …read more

Slash Turns 43 But Doesn’t Look A Day Over…Um…43

Former Guns N Roses and current Velvet Revolver guitarist, Slash (As if you didn’t know who the hell he was) or Saul Hudson took not one but two nights to celebrate his birthday. The two night bash took place July 23rd and July 24th in Las Vegas Nevada. Among some of the guests were Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, and Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains. I can imagine a lot of cigarettes were smoked and a lot of Jack was drank. Check out the video below of Jerry Cantrell, Tom Morello and Slash …read more
