Classic Riffs or Classic Rip-Offs?

Classic Riffs or Classic Rip-Offs?

Plagiarism in music has been in the spot-light since the beginning of recording music. Everyone wants their due and doesn’t want anyone else to rip them off and/or get credit for their work. As much as we’d all love to believe that our guitar heroes and favorite bands are all original, the truth is a lot of copy-cat and riff theft has been going on since the invention of the guitar…or any musical instrument for that matter.
How many acoustic songs could be dubbed as rip-offs? There are only so many chords and notes and you can only put them in …read more

Dead Zeppelin: No Singer, No Tour

Dead Zeppelin: No Singer, No Tour

Well it looks as if even a tour with half of the original Led Zeppelin Members will no longer happen. Yesterday Britmusicscene.com reported that Jimmy Page’s manager, Peter Mensch said that all hope has been scrapped for any kind of Zeppelin based tour, with or without Robert Plant.

Unledded Zeppelin

It looks as if Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham are going to tour totally Led free. That is they will not be touring as “Led Zeppelin“. I think that’s a good thing. A few rumored singers to be filling the void will be Steven Tyler of Aerosmith or maybe Myles Kennedy of Alterbridge, who have rehearsed with the former three Zeppelin musicians.
But Page wants to make one thing clear about the new project. “Whatever this is, it is not Led Zeppelin,” says a rep for Page’s management company, QPrime.

I kind of thought the idea of them touring …read more

Jack Bruce Of Cream: "F*ck Off, Zeppelin. You’re Crap."

Jack Bruce Of Cream: "F*ck Off, Zeppelin. You’re Crap."

Did I miss someone from Led Zeppelin talking trash about Cream somewhere along the line? The Classic Rock Awards were held last night and Cream won the gong for “Classic Album” with their 41 year old release of “Disraeli Gears“. Accepting the award was Jack Bruce who was also pulled in for a post-award interview with Classic Rock Magazine’s Dave Ling. Here is just a little bit of Jack Bruce’s anti-Zeppelin rant:
Everybody talks about Led Zeppelin, and they played one fucking gig – one fucking lame gig – while Cream did weeks of gigs; proper gigs, not just a lame …read more

Jimmy Page Doesn’t Want To Be A Star

Jimmy Page Doesn’t Want To Be A Star

…On the Hollywood walk of fame, that is. Rocky Dickerson started a campaign to nominate Led Zeppelin for a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. While a lot of people would like to see this, Jimmy Page doesn’t feel that he should endorse it. Can’t blame the man for being humble.
Dickerson stated that he wants to make it fan driven.
“I’m trying to make this a totally fan-driven thing,” he said. “I don’t want anything from any corporate entity, or anything from LED ZEPPELIN. I want this to be a small thing that we, the fans, can give back …read more

Robert Plant Shoots Down Led Zeppelin Tour Rumors

Rumors were flying all over the place last week that British rock legends, Led Zeppelin were back with front-man Robert Plant and planning a world tour. I was skeptical from the get-go. Seriously, how many times in the past year have we heard this and how many times has Robert Plant set the record straight. Well let’s just add one more time to that list. Plant will be finishing up his tour with Alison Krauss on October 5th and an official statement left at Robertplant.com reads as follows:
After those dates, Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone …read more

Olympic Closing Performance Of "Whole Lotta Love" Was Way Over-Produced

Olympic Closing Performance Of "Whole Lotta Love" Was Way Over-Produced

While the performance of ‘Whole Lotta Love” was done well at the 2008 Summer Olympic Closing Ceremony, I have to say that everything sounded a bit over-done. I mean, I couldn’t really hear any of Jimmy Page’s rhythm chords during the entire performance, and the only time I really heard his guitar at all was during the solos. I understand that they are going to add all sorts of stuff in there for entertainment and spectacle value, but the entire sound of Led Zeppelin was pretty much covered up with a lot of glam and glitz. The beautiful pop-star Leona …read more

Foo Fighters Perform With Zeppelin Members (Video)

Ramble On, a Led Zeppelin blog, reported that Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones performed with The Foo Fighters last night at Wembley Stadium as part of their final encore set. Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins, sang “Rock N Roll” with the Zeppelin duo while David Grohl played drums and then switched places for Ramble on.
Rumors of this had been floating around for a few days now and Grohl had said that he wanted to drum for Led Zeppelin if they did a world reunion tour. Robert Plant is defiant at doing a world tour and is currently (If I’m …read more
