New KISS Album Coming In September

March 27, 2009 by Scott

Paul Stanley says the new KISS album may be released as soon as September. This is actually one of those instances where I’m not going to talk mrpphotos158113-Kiss-Music-Band-Roc_Paul_Stanley trash and just deliver the news. Bravewords.com reports that Paul Stanley was recently interviewed by a Brazilian called O Dia online, where the KISS singer and guitarist said that the new album will come out in September.

“It’s amazing, it will be the following of Destroyer and Love Gun, a classic KISS album. It will be out in September.”

Or as google translates it:

How is the new album? (Leonardo Castro, Rio de Janeiro)

Paul Stanley: You are incredible, near ‘Love Gun’ (1977) and ‘Destroyer’ (76), sounds like the traditional melodies. Only has the band’s music. To leave in September.

I love Google translator because it’s never quite right. Still, it gives you the general idea.

Comparing it to those albums actually makes me more interested than I previously was.

Gene Wants To Record The New Kiss Album "Quickly"

February 17, 2009 by Scott

Gene Simmons states that he does not have the patients to spend six months in the recording studio recording the new KISS album. The New album will be produced by Paul Stanley.

“The idea is to make the record quickly, like we did at the time of Destroyer, Rock And Roll Over and Love Gun. But we must be prepared, so we are now working on songs when we have time. Maybe in March we will go in a studio and recorded two or three songs. The idea is to work well, little by little, we can not spend too much time in the studio, it has to be fast.”

They recently reported that they would be recording in analog too. Perhaps the overall concept with recording analog and fast is to make the album sound as genuine as possible instead of over-produced and too polished. That’s respectable. If I wanted or had to have a new KISS album, I would prefer the original line-up…but who wouldn’t, right?

KISS Recording New Album In Analog

February 2, 2009 by Scott

Kiss2_NCBravewords.com is reporting that KISS is recording their next album in analog, and get this…they’re writing the songs THEMSELVES! Isn’t that what rock musicians are supposed to do, write the songs themselves? If you don’t write the songs for yourself then how can you poor that emotion in to performing them? You’re just another pop-puppet if you don’t write your own songs, in my opinion. Sure you might have a song that someone else wrote for you or a cover tune on an album, but I just don’t see how ANY legitimate rock band can sing and play songs that someone else wrote for them. Paul Stanley told The New York Post this.

“It’s a KISS album in the most true and classic sense - we’re recording it in analog, not digital, and writing it ourselves.”

I don’t really think it’s going to matter what they record it with, it’s going to suck just as every post 1977 album does and even Love Gun wasn’t that great of an album. To me KISS is one of the prime examples of why people download singles. Most of their albums are almost all filler. You want a good KISS album then just got for the Double Platinum compilation and leave everything else to the fanboy collectors.

Gene Simmons Game Console Axe

December 4, 2008 by Scott

gene axe

Of course it wouldn’t be long before Gene Simmons dipped his hand in to the Guitar Hero/ Rock Band market. Honestly though, this is a pretty cool guitar for the guitar gamer and KISS fan. This isn’t priced ridiculously high and is about the same price as any wireless Guitar at $79.99. You can check out a much better picture and check out the specs of it here and buy one here. Unfortunately it’s not available for Xbox 360 yet.

Gene Simmons On Next KISS Studio Album And Search For Canada’s Next Big Rock Band

November 28, 2008 by Scott

Genedemon_nc KISS bass player and pretty much spokesperson, Gene Simmons has confirmed plans for another KISS Studio Album saying:

“We’ll do a handful of shows just to keep in the game (next) summer, maybe 10 (dates), some Canadian shows. I know Halifax is one, but before you get out there and start the baseball season, they hold exhibition games, that’s what we’re doing. ‘Cause once we go out, it’s going to be for a year and a half.”

He also tells of plans he has for finding the next big rock band for his Canadian label.

Does KISS Deserve a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction?

November 21, 2008 by Scott

Kiss2_NC Though the fact remains that I don’t care much for Gene Simmons or KISS these days I still think they should probably be in the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame. Millions of records and merch sold, concert after concert sold out all over the world, millions upon millions of fans and influences on so many bands. Yeah, I think they deserve to be there just as much as, let’s say Metallica or Black Sabbath. Of course Gene Simmons thinks they deserve to be there as well. In a recently taped episode for A&E’s Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels he had this to say:

Gene Simmons Smarter Than A 5th Grader…but not by much.

November 10, 2008 by Scott

I had to add that last part in to the title just so I didn’t sound as if I like Gene Simmons. I’d hate you guys to get the wrong idea. Gene appeared on “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?” hosted by Jeff Foxworthy last Friday November 7th.

Gene won $500,000 for the charity Glazer Pediatrics AIDS Foundation. He also had a chance to win $1,000,000 but declined to risk it by answering the question “What does the K represent on the Periodic Table of Elements?“. He said that if he would have had to answer he would have said “Krypton“. Yeah, you laugh, but how many of you could actually answer that question? Furthermore how many of your children in 5th grade could answer that? (The answer is Potassium)

Gene played it well and 500k went to a good cause. Can’t hate the man for that, right? Check out the video below, while you still can.

Why Gene $immons Wouldn’t Run For President

October 24, 2008 by Scott

Gene Simmons_nc Why would Gene Simmons not run for president? I think you have to be a native U.S. Citizen for one, but the reason that he says he wouldn’t run is because “the job doesn’t pay enough.” When you have the money that Gene does, I can totally understand! What? I’m agreeing with something that Gene Simmons said? Yes, I am. I mean, If you had millions of dollars why would you want to take a job that is more stressful, more work, less money and something that probably isn’t all that fun in the first place. Politics suck and having the weight of America on your shoulders doesn’t help. Sure George W. Bush proved that a mentally handicap person can sit in the White House and make it look as if he’s running the country, but we know that he was more influenced by everyone around him. In the end I don’t think that “W.” has the mental capacity to wipe his own ass, no less run the country…but millions of stupid people voted for him for a second term. Seriously though…did they have much of a choice. If I was Gene I would stay where I’m at and reap the benefits of…well, being Gene. Here is what he said according to Hollyscoop:

The Rock Dose Interview With Fifi Larue, The Gothic Killer Clown OF Rock N’ Roll

October 12, 2008 by Scott

Fifi Larue Some of you may be saying Fifi La-who? Fifi Larue, The Gothic Killer Clown Of Rock N’ Roll. The self proclaimed ‘Heavy Metal Messiah’. He may not have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame and he may not be selling records by the millions on a major label or touring the world over, but Fifi Larue has made a name for himself. Hated by some and loved by many more, Fifi Larue and his band follows along in the faded, yet still relevant foot-steps of some legendary musicians such as KISS, Alice Cooper and Twisted Sister.

Fifi Larue has played at ‘Rock The Bayou’ (even though the turn-out was weak because of the hurricane), opened for W.A.S.P., has a CD out on electronic distribution sites (without a label), and has even been joined onstage by Gene Simmons (ok, well it was an impersonator, so what). So you can call him fat, a joke, a poser all you want, but what have you got to show for yourself or your band?

I had the opportunity to fly out to Beverly Hills this past Friday and throw a few questions at Fifi. Ok, that’s a lie. I actually just sent him an e-mail and he was cool enough to get back to me the same day with his answers. Seems like a very genuine and nice guys to say the least.
