From the Vault: Nirvana’s ‘In Bloom’

With the past decade behind us many of us are wondering where the time went. It’s almost hard to believe however the the oo’s (although full of great and emerging rock talent) can’t even come close to the music of the 90’s. It seems that since Nirvana and Kurt Cobain’s sudden death bands have continued to try and emulate their sound or simply keep them alive by covering their songs.
This is where You Tube comes in handy in assisting with trips down memory lane. No matter how hard current bands try they will never be as good or be anything …read more

R.I.P. Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley

Somehow this completely slipped my mind this week. Yesterday something was telling me there was significance in April 8th and the  I saw on my facebook someone mentioned that Kurt Cobain Died on April 8th, when we know the reality was that he wasn’t discovered until the 8th and they dated his death as the 5th. I wasn’t going to be a snotty rocker and correct them because most people think of the 8th as the day Kurt died, because that’s the day we all found out.

Layne Staley’s death is dated April 5th as well, though his body wasn’t …read more

Kurt Cobain’s Smashed Guitar Sells For 100K

Gibson.com’s Lifestyle is reporting that Kurt Cobain’s infamous Fender Mustang that was used on Nirvana’s first US tour was auctioned off to an undisclosed collector who bought the guitar for a cool one-hundred grand.
The owner of the guitar, a punk guitar player that goes by the name “Sluggo”,  probably had no clue at the time that he would ever get that much for the guitar. I imagine as years passed he realized he was sitting on a gold-mine but probably didn’t really want to part with it.
The story goes that Cobain smashed the guitar onstage during a …read more

Courtney Love Is The Devil…But We Already Knew That

Hole front-pig and husband murdering ex-wife of late Nirvana front-man has not done anything good for Nirvana since her inception into it’s family tree. Now you want to talk about using the “Lipstick On A Pig” metaphor the right way, this would be it.
I wasn’t a fan when Kurt Cobain died. It was an era where everything was Nirvana this and Nirvana that. I was totally burnt out on Nirvana everything. It was close to the end of the short lived grunge era. Some say that grunge started to die after Kurt did. I wasn’t surprised that it happened …read more
