Van Halen The Latest Rumored Guitar Heroes

Van Halen The Latest Rumored Guitar Heroes

Aerosmith pretty much started the band based Guitar Hero line and the latest band rumored to get an upcoming release on the game is Van Halen. Deservingly I guess, Eddie Van Halen is a guitar hero. How many rock and metal guitar players has he influenced over the years. While his playing and style may be slightly dated compared to some of the guitar players out there today, he’s still an amazing talent. Besides, I don’t like to compare guitar virtuosos of yesterday to players of today. A lot of guitar players these days play for speed more than …read more

The Eagles Top Rock Ticket Sellers Of 2008

The top 20 ticket sellers of 2008 are in and there are 11 bands/artists that can be considered rock. Even though I would consider Coldplay to be more Pop music than rock, we’ll give it to them here.

The Eagles took #4, selling 90.7 million dollars in tickets. The Eagles released their first studio album since 1979 with The Long Road Out Of Edin which sold over 7 million copies in the U.S. and was sold Exclusively through Walmart and Sam’s Club for the first year of it’s release.

AC/DC’s Black Ice Sells Over 3/4 Million In The U.S. And Tops Charts In 29 Countries

I don’t know if this was AC/DC’s final 401k plan so to speak, but if it was, they can be assured that they will be retiring happy. Over 780,000 copies of Black Ice have been sold in The United States in it’s first week of release and over 5 million copies have been shipped worldwide. Ad that to the 5 million+ copies of their back catalog being sold and they have sold 10 million records this year alone. That’s just unheard of! How many other bands can say that they did that this year? None!
Quintuple platinum in one …read more

Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy Album Art And Tracklist Revealed

Best Buy has revealed the cover art and track listing for the first run of Guns N’ Roses Chinese Democracy. I say “First Run” because we know this is probably going to be a trial time for this. They are going to see how it sells and if it works out, they will probably comes out with 4 other editions with extra tracks and “Bonus Material” and all that stuff to get more people to buy it. I guess they though that there was enough hype out there already, but If I was Best Buy or anyone else, I …read more

The Art Of Reinventing A Rock Band

The Art Of Reinventing A Rock Band

Gibson.com had a great article on bands that have reinvented themselves in an attempt to bring them up to date and become a hit again. Some have been successful in the past and some….well, not so good. Then there are some such as Pink Floyd, who had no choice but to reinvent themselves and carry on when Syd Barrett departed because of mental illness. I’m going to mention two that reinvented themselves.
Kiss reinvented themselves when they shed the make up with two new members of the band. This didn’t work out so well for the band gaining new members …read more

There Is Just Something About Vinyl

There Is Just Something About Vinyl

What the hell is it that has made vinyl stand the test of time. All other media with the exception of the compact disc and now mp3s has come on gone but there is still a demand for vinyl. Now it may not be such a demand as every band is printing albums on vinyl but a few here and there know their fans well enough that if they do take the time and money to get vinyl albums made, the fans will buy them.
