Badfish, Living In The (Sub)Lime Light
I almost went to see these guys last year, but the venue was too damn far away for me to drive out to see a tribute band, even though I’m a huge fan of Sublime. However generic you may think Sublime is, with the reggae overtones mixed with ska, punk, and hard rock, you have to admit that it’s cool and fun music.
Daily Dose 7/4 Sublime – Doin’ Time

"Me and my girl, we got this relationship. I love her so bad but she treats me like… on lock down like a penitentiary. she spreads her lovin’ all over and when she get home there’s none left for me"
Sublime – Doin’ Time~
This is a nice slow groove dub song. With this I’m going to close out a week of Sublime Daily Doses. Perhaps this is how I’m going to do every week for the "Daily Dose" …read more
Uncovered: Sublime – Rivers Of Babylon
July 3, 2008 by Scott
If you’re big into reggae then you know this song from Boney M. I’m not into reggae and the only reason I know who the original is from is because if Wikipedia. Sublime do a beautiful version of Boney M.’s Rivers Of Babylon. If you like the original you, you may like Sublime’s version. It’s a kind of live version, unplugged. Sublime covered so much ground, musically. Otis Redding, The Grateful Dead, Bad Religion, just to name a few. They were an amazing band.
Even though I’m not into reggae there is one thing that con not be denied and that …read more
Daily Dose 7/3 Sublime – Badfish
July 3, 2008 by Scott
I know it’s kind of late for me to be posting the Daily Dose, but it’s been a hectic two weeks and I’ve been busier that a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Here is a great chill song from Sublime. There is really nothing I can say to build this song up. there is no need to. Just enjoy it!
"Ain’t got no quarrels with God, ain’t got no time to grow old.
Lord knows I’m weak, won’t somebody get me off of this reef? "

Daily Dose 7/2 Sublime – Date Rape
July 2, 2008 by Scott
Sublime – Date Rape: If you’ve never heard or seen this video before I’m not going to ruine it for you by posting any of the lyrics op front. Of course this song isn’t condoning date rape. It tells a story of scum bags that take advantage of drunken women without sexual consent.
Uncovered: Bad Religion’s ‘We’re Only Gonna Die’ Covered By Sublime
July 1, 2008 by Scott
This is one of my favorite Bad Religion Songs and is a classic at that. Sublime covered Bad Religion’s ‘We’re Only Gonna Die (For Our Own Arrogance)’ on their 40 oz To Freedom album. While it took me a little to get used to because it’s quite different from the original until the breakdown, it is still a cool twisted cover. This song was also covered by NY Hardcore band Biohazzard, which was a much easier cover for me to like because for one it was on their Urban Discipline album which in my opinion is their best album and …read more
Daily Dose 7/1 Sublime – The Wrong Way
July 1, 2008 by Scott
“The only family that she’s ever had
Is her seven horny brothers and a drunk-ass dad
He needed money so he put her on the street
Everything was goin’ fine until the day she met me”
Yeap, two days in a row with a dose of Sublime and I’ll be doing it all week. Why? Because Sublime is one of my favorites. I don’t know why. I don’t listen to reggae, I’m not into ska, and I don’t really listen to much Grateful Dead. But I still like rock and a little bit of old school punk and as I said yesterday, Sublime knew …read more
Daily Dose 6/30 Sublime – Santeria
June 30, 2008 by Scott
“Tell sanchito that if he knows what is good for him he best go run and hide. Daddy’s got a new .45. and I won’t think twice to stick that barrel straight down sancho’s throat. Believe me when I say that I got somethin for his punk ass.”
Sublime – Santeria~
This is one of my favorite Sublimesongs. Sublime were a great band that sampled many other classic rock and reggae bands and put their own mix of punk rock and ska into the songs. This song is pretty obvious what it’s all about. In case you’re not fluent in Spanish as …read more
