Scott Weiland Clean And Sober?

Scott Weiland Clean And Sober?

For a long time I have had a love/hate relationship with Scott Weiland. Not like a real, personal relationship but like as a fan and music lover. When the Stone Temple Pilots first became big on the radio back in the early 90’s I was kind of digging their sound. It wasn’t the typical grunge or glam rock sound that was plaguing the airwaves during that time. It was a breath of fresh air. I liked them, but never enough to buy their album, Core. I was in a phase at that moment where I would mainly listen to …read more

Scott Weiland For English Laundry Clothing Line

Scott Weiland’s sobriety, for once is not the issue of the news. This time the former Velvet Revolver and Stone Temple Pilots front-man has teamed with designer Christopher Wicks to start a men’s clothing line.

Confirmed: Velvet Revolver Dropped From RCA Records

Velvet Revolver’s debut album on RCA records, Contraband has sold close to 2 million records since it’s release in 2004. That’s almost 7 times what their second album Libertad sold since it’s release in 2007. Despite still going triple gold, RCA records has decided to drop Velvet Revolver from their label. The fact that they are without a front-man doesn’t help the matters much either. Perhaps they are figuring that a the next record won’t sell nearly that with a new singer.

Slash Guitar Hero Three Action Figure

Slash Guitar Hero Three Action Figure

Via PRNewswire:
McFarlane Toys announces plans to produce a “SLASH” action figure based on his in-game character from Activision’s hit videogame, Guitar Hero(R) III: Legends of Rock. The action figure is expected to hit mass retailers in February 2009.
Slash, one of the most iconic guitarists of all time, lead guitarist for the acclaimed hard rock act Velvet Revolver and a former member of Guns ‘N’ Roses, will be the newest Guitar Hero action figure.

I don’t know why they are calling it an action figure as opposed to a “Figurine” or maybe a “statuette”. Seriously, it’s not the people that …read more

In a recent interview conducted by Rob Hayes of Metro.co.uk, Duff McKagen was asked about his upcoming tour with his band Loaded.
Metro.co.uk: Why tour [in the UK with LOADED] and not in America?
Duff: It seemed the right thing for this band. Audiences in the UK seem to understand the type of rock’n’roll I like to play. The UK is the first place GUNS N’ ROSES and VELVET REVOLVER broke. I’m not too sure about playing the States. Frankly, America isn’t very rock ‘n’ roll anymore.

The truth is that a lot of modern rock acts really …read more

Lenny Kravitz Rehearsing With Velvet Revolver?

Lenny Kravitz is rehearsing with Velvet Revolver? That’s the rumor according to The Sun magazine out of the UK.
The rocker, who is playing at the V Festival in Staffordshire and Chelmsford this weekend, has been spotted in the studio with the band.
A source said: “Velvet Revolver’s new album will draw heavily on their messy split with Scott. “The band wanted a big name who could easily hold his own and reckon Lenny is just the man for the job.”
What’s my take on this? Like I said…it’s a rumor as far as I’m concerned. Lenny Kravitz is a great performer, although …read more

The Gravel Report 8/4

No, I’m not dead. I’ve been on vacation. I wanted to do some updates but was busy with a lot of other activities with the family and Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest in VA Beach on Friday. Here’ is what happened in rock news over the weekend and I’ll be updating through out the day.
Lallapalooza turned in to Rage-apallooza when all hell broke loose during Rage Against The Machine’s set. A bunch of people were taken to the hospital and there was word that some people were intentionally hurting other people and stopping them from exiting.

Slash Turns 43 But Doesn’t Look A Day Over…Um…43

Former Guns N Roses and current Velvet Revolver guitarist, Slash (As if you didn’t know who the hell he was) or Saul Hudson took not one but two nights to celebrate his birthday. The two night bash took place July 23rd and July 24th in Las Vegas Nevada. Among some of the guests were Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, and Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains. I can imagine a lot of cigarettes were smoked and a lot of Jack was drank. Check out the video below of Jerry Cantrell, Tom Morello and Slash …read more
