The Gravel Report 1st Edition 7/29

July 30, 2008 by Scott

What the hell is ‘The Gravel Report’? Over at MetalMartyr.com I do The Scrap Metal Report. It’s basically one post with a round up of various news pieces from the day or past days, sometimes with a link to the original story. This is a rock blog so this is The Gravel Report. This will be an every other day or every now and then thing. Welcome…

The Butthole Surfers Brawlers? Gibby Haynes was carted off stage last night by security in an NYC show for pelting the soundman with a beer bottle. I’ve seen this before with The Misfitsin D.C. The sound man has his head up his ass and sometimes gets assaulted by a band member.

Cheech and Chong Back Smokin’ Again? After nearly 25 year Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have set aside their differences and figured they better do another tour before one of them dies. “We’ve gotten to the age where we don’t feel like fighting anymore because the end is a lot closer than the beginning,” Tommy Chong  said.

AD/DC plan an 18 month tour that is supposed to kick off on Halloween. Tour dates will be updated later.

Chris Cornell supposedly shows his darker sideon his new cd….ooo, scarrryyy. Produced by hip hopper Timbaland (such an original name and yet doesn’t violate any trademarks) Chris Cornell has already been disowned by the Soundgarden fans.

Ever wonder how much a band makes from a CD sale? About 3.3%. so on average about .50 if they are lucky. Now divide that by an average of 4 members

Alice Cooper’s Along Came A Spider was released yesterday. I don’t have any big news on that as of yet, but we’ll see in the near.

Loverboy recently had a show in Canada canceled on them. An anticipated 5000 tickets to sell only sold about 200. Not as loved as they were in the 80’s I guess.

The Sundance Channel’s Live From Abby Road episode 7 will feature Matchbox 20, The Script And Def Leppard.

Tommy Lee of Motley Crue recently said that if a movie is done based on the band that he thinks JohnnyDepp would be the ideal person to play him. Mick Mars stated that he thinks The Grim Reaper would be ideal for him and Nikki Sixx said that Rod Stewart would be his pick seeing they have the same hair cut.

Well that’s it for this edition of The Gravel Report.
