Ugh. I’m listening to them on Last.fm, and this is… not great.

I mean, if you like Dashboard Confessional or Boys Like Girls, I’m sure you’d like these guys.

But as for myself, thanks but no thanks.

  2. Scott says:

Thanks for the constructive criticism, Dan. It’s better to hear that then a simple “This sucks”. I’m not really feeling it either. Although I think they have a positive message in their music and obviously have some musical talent, it just doesn’t appeal to me. Sounds too Teen-ish, pop-rock for my taste. However, if that’s the crowd it’s geared toward then I guess they are probably on the right track. But again as far as my personal preference, it falls short for me.

  3. RockAngel says:

I wasn’t a big fan of these guys last album…I don’t know if you guys listened to it, but it pretty much sounded like all of the other teeny bopper emo out there, although they did have some decent lyrics.

This song however is a step up from that and I think they have more of a rock influence here. The problem with what you posted is the video is of high schoolers; I think if you listened to it without the video, it’s not so bad…not amazing, but decent. These guys do have some talent and if they can manage to break out of the teen/emo thing (like they’ve started to here), their album might actually be worth listening to.

  4. Scott says:

I actually heard the song a few days ago before I saw the video. That’s where I got my initial reaction to it. It just sounds very much the same as most of the music being played today.

I find TRJA pretty unique, but being unique doesn’t always measure up. I really dislike this band. I’m not moved by anything they come up with. I wish they did something more for me other than having a cool name.
I hyped The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus on Everhype.com and gave them 60% which I think is fairly accurate.

If you get on there rate me a 5 and request friendship.

  6. Justine says:

Well i like TRJA and i dont really give much less what you so called critics think! atleast their out their trying to influence teenagers in the right way! wht have any of you ever done to help the teens of this world? do you get you ass up and tour all year?all some of ou guys do is surf the net all day and life out your boring lives! these guys are trying to make a difference with their music and no theire music doesnt sound like usual music, if youd listen to their lyrics you’d probably understand somthing. duh, all im saying is that im proud of what their doing and you just dont judge somthing when you hardly know anything about them! the generation of this world is messed up mein some people just cant appreciate anything thats out there

  7. Dan says:

Justine, I’m going to say this so Scott doesn’t have to. Shut up. This happens to be our opinion, just like you happen to have your opinion about this band. It’s good that you like them. If they do it for you, then that’s wonderful, and you should support them. But let me ask you this: Do you like Cattle Decapitation? If you do, that’s fine. If not, that’s ok with me to. I have no problem with that at all.

Duh, all I’m saying is that I’m tired of people opening their mouths before thinking things through. Don’t judge US because we’re not fans of this band. You don’t know anything about us. I think it’s messed up that you can’t appreciate others and their opinions.

    Sorry Scott, I had to.

    - Dan

Thanks, Dan. I think we actually went pretty easy on these guys. I mean, we were pretty constructive about it and I don’t think we every really said anything too negative about them. Since this post I haven’t said a thing about this band.

And for your info, Justin. I was asked to post this video and see how people felt about it. Oh, and before you go saying “Duh” to anybody, make sure you know how to spell every other word around it. Unless you were drunk when you wrote that…then I totally understand.

  9. Leigh says:

I like these guys but I preferred their last album, although Pen & Paper isn’t bad. I guess it is a bit teen-y but I’m a teenager so what the hell.

And Justine, the guys have a point. You can’t criticise someone just because they don’t like the same music as you. It’s just stupid. I haven’t heard of Cattle Decaptitation but wow, cool name. I’m sure they’re amazing.
