Why Gene $immons Wouldn’t Run For President
October 24, 2008 by Scott
Why would Gene Simmons not run for president? I think you have to be a native U.S. Citizen for one, but the reason that he says he wouldn’t run is because “the job doesn’t pay enough.” When you have the money that Gene does, I can totally understand! What? I’m agreeing with something that Gene Simmons said? Yes, I am. I mean, If you had millions of dollars why would you want to take a job that is more stressful, more work, less money and something that probably isn’t all that fun in the first place. Politics suck and having the weight of America on your shoulders doesn’t help. Sure George W. Bush proved that a mentally handicap person can sit in the White House and make it look as if he’s running the country, but we know that he was more influenced by everyone around him. In the end I don’t think that “W.” has the mental capacity to wipe his own ass, no less run the country…but millions of stupid people voted for him for a second term. Seriously though…did they have much of a choice. If I was Gene I would stay where I’m at and reap the benefits of…well, being Gene. Here is what he said according to Hollyscoop:
“I would rather vote for me,” he told Hollyscoop. “I have as much qualification as some of the candidates. Actually, there are people who are out voting for me, but the job doesn’t pay enough. We are going to be voting and I don’t think, by the way, celebrities should open their traps about anything except promoting their new stuff.
“Just because you’re in front of people doesn’t mean you’re qualified to do crap. I don’t want my foreign policy to be decided in Malibu…by Sean Penn, for fuck’s sake… I mean that in a good way.”
He’s got a good point. Too often are people influenced in their decisions by something a celebrity says about politics. Just this one time I must say: Mr. Simmons…you are correct, sir.
